Temporary closure of FP2731 leading from Steyning to Whites Bridge and informal track leading to Saltings Way

I thought I should let you know that we are having to close the two above named routes between 12th and the 16th October due to the need to lay additional limestone dust over the top of sections to stabilise the surface. For a while now we have been receiving a number of concerns that the surface is quite loose on top so we have instructed the contractor to visit next week to lay this and stabilise it.

I appreciate that this will be an inconvenience but this has been prompted by complaints and subsequent site visits and important we do this now before the winter sets in. Apologies for the short notice but have only just received confirmation no consent is required to do the work adjacent to the Saltings and didn’t want to delay any further.

I hope you can understand and if you can pass this message around locally that would be appreciated and if anyone is reporting issues (either individuals or Parish Councils) can you please encourage them to use our online reporting tool (link below) as our inbox is now closed to new enquiries and is not monitored so we wouldn’t want to miss anything ...
